Titolo: “ Competency Framework for the Business Coaching Psychologist: a first stage of development”

Abstract:
Purpose: Introducing an initial proposal of a competency framework for coaching psychologists who provide or will provide coaching services in organizational and business contexts. We present a conceptual model in a cross-disciplinary perspective with 3 competency areas, 14 described competencies with a set of related behavioural indicators.
Background: Coaching Psychology in Italy is in an early stage of development. SCPItaly as the coaching psychology national professional body, needs to invest and to undertake on this critically important issue. A competency framework fosters the design, implementation and evaluation of CPE/CPD paths and supervision for practitioners and potentials practitioners. It also contributes to the development of the professional standards of practice amongst coaching psychologists and within the Italian coaching arena.
Methods: First step: Coaching Psychology literature review, including a Systematic Review focusing on the attributes of effective coaching psychologists (Lai & McDowall, 2014). Review of 10 published coaching competency framework. Established a panel of experienced coaching psychologists. Initial Business Coaching Psychology anchor definition and process/activities requirements. European Qualifications Framework competency definition based on KSA model as an anchor definition. Second step: results analysis of a SCP Italy longitudinal survey (Coaching Competencies and Values, 2011 and 2014) focusing on the competencies (Knowledges, Skills, Attitudes) Italian coaching psychologists mainly use and want to develop. Third step: identification of the competency areas. Naming and description of each competency. Proposal of a set of related behavioural indicators.
Conclusions: This framework is at initial stage of development. A basis to start the design of the validation process.

Taking the temperature supervision in Coaching/Coaching Psychology: SCP Italy’s first survey

Abstract: la survey si presenta come ricerca descrittiva che intende esplorare l’importanza percepita della supervisione nel coaching e la sua pratica, i principali benefici attesi e i criteri guida nella scelta del supervisore. I risultati orienteranno la progettazione dei servizi di Metavisione che SCP Italy offrirà ai Soci.
